I guess you did not read my musings on the fundamentals after all!

The way we understand the faculty of intellect is its ability to discern the
real from the unreal.  I believe the sages of the upanishad have kept that
in mind.

A sudhra, if he ever became a king, like Karunanidhi of Tamilnadu did,
wouldn't be approaching a sage.  He wouldn't have the 'intellect' that I
have described.

I have no idea of your definition of 'intelligence'.  However sorrow belongs
to the mind.  The role of intellect in respect of sorrow was given by Sri
Krishna in Bhagavat Geetha when he said "sukhadhukkE samE krithvaa..."
