In the Mahabharata, Drona Parva, Veda Vyasa addresses Arjuna:

महाभारतम्-07-द्रोणपर्व-203

वेदाः साङ्गोपनिषदः पुराणाध्यात्मनिश्चयाः।
यदत्र परमं गुह्यं स वै देवो महेश्वरः।।

The Supreme Secret Essence in all the Vedas, the Vedangas, Upanishads,
Puranas and works of esoteric knowledge is Maheswara, Rudra.

ईदृशश्च महादेवो भूयांश्च भगवानजः।
न हि सर्वे मया शक्या वक्तुं भगवतो गुणाः।।
अपि वर्षसहस्रेण सततं पाण्‍डुनन्दन।
Mahadeva, the Magnificent Unborn One's glories, I cannot recite completely
even in a thousand years, O Arjuna.
