svalakShaNaM tu yO vEda sa muniSrEShTha ucyatE ||
[Mahabharata]
unquote.
svalakShaNaM tu yO vEda sa muniSrEShTha ucyatE||It means : one who realizes or cognizesia a Sage.
Is it not the goal set by VedaVyasa
