Namaste,
>>>Such a practice is not seen in the Advaita Vedanta tradition.
Is it because in the VedAnta aka Advaita tradition owning up the 'SELF' being the goal, emphasis is on the SMN done with the help of a Guru who is a 'shrotRiya' and also a 'brahma nishTa' ?
Hence priority goes to 'GOvinda' than 'dukRingkaraNe" ?

PS: Byhearting is always a good way to increase memory, retention and also helps immensely in teaching.

See this link for the list of 555 Brahmasutras. I have not verified the
spellings, accuracy, number of sutras, etc.

The list may be useful for someone who wishes to commit to memory the
sutras. There are persons known to have done that. One can even do the
paaraayanam of the sutras. In Vyakarana, there is a tradition of having the
student commit to memory all the some 4000 sutras. I have seen such a
practice in the tutelage of a great Vidwan. Such a practice is not seen in
the Advaita Vedanta tradition.
