[Advaita-l] ज्ञानिनामपि चेतांसि देवी भगवती हि सा ....

This is a popular verse in दुर्गासप्तशती (vide 1st chapter). The sage मेधा while explaining the
power योगनिद्रा / महामाया says:

ज्ञानिनामपि चेतांसि देवी भगवती हि सा ।
बलादाकृष्य मोहाय महामाया प्रयच्छति ॥ 

The power of mahAmAya is such that It even deludes the intellect of the wise (jnAni)
and make them reel under It's deluding power !

To which there the commentary शान्तनवी says:

महामायायाः प्राधान्यमाह । हि यस्मात् अनादिः प्रसिद्धा वैष्णवी महामाया भगवती ऐश्वर्यादियुता अतः सा देवी स्वेच्छया दीव्यन्ती सती ज्ञानिनामपि उपनिषदुत्थज्ञानिनामपि पुंसां चेतांसि बलात्सामर्थ्यादाकृष्य मोहाय संसालिकत्वाय ममत्वाय प्रयच्छति ददाति ।  चित्तानि ममत्वाधीनानि करोति इत्यन्वयः ॥ 

The anAdi vaiSNavi mahAmAya even deludes the intellect of the those wise whose who have
acquired knowledge by studying upanishads.

On this auspicious navarAtri, let us worship Mother Chandi and seek Her grace !
