[Advaita-l] [advaitin] An Etymol ogy for the name 'Kṛṣṇa'

Dear friends,

There is possibly a  reason for Lord Krishna's appearing dark. Tantra says that he is none but the male roopa of mother Kali, who is also dark. When the Divine Mother thought of creating the world (this is possibly the same as the Brahman wanting to be many) she turned dark (possibly due to the three gunas)

 This quote is also from Mahabharata,
 quoted by Shankara himself in his Vishnu sahasranama
 bhashya. 'I am krishna because I am
 dark-skinned' !
