[Advaita-l] Books on Bhagawatam

Dear friends,

No doubt he wrote the Mahabharata for layman and woman but after completing it he realised that he failed. Then on the advice of Narada the sad rishi Vedavyasa took up the writing of the Bhagavatam. This is given in the Bhagavata-mahatmya in the Padma purana. Hope this clarifies.

Actually,

The SlOkam - "stree SUdra dvija bandhUnaam trayee na SRti gOcharaa..." -
says that Vedavyasa wrote "bhaaratam" for the sake of women and laymen.

Vedavyasa wrote Srimat Bhagavatam to satisfy himself.
