[Advaita-l] Was Ravana a devotee of Lord Shiva?

In Uttara Kanda Ramayana Ravana prays to Siva.  There is a story how
he tried to shake Kailasa and Siva pressed the mountain down. Ravana's
hand was stuck under the mountain. He prayed continuously to Siva and
became free. He got one weapon from Siva also.
