murti to refer vigraha(arcAvatAramUrti); pratimA to omkAra; linga to saligrAma etc.
//
Pls clarify whether "omkara" is pratimA or not.
I have read elsewhere that "Omkara" is "AlaMbanaM" and pratika / pratima are sAlagrAma, narmada bAna linga etc.
There is a difference between AlaMbanaM and pratimA. Examples of AlaMbanaM are praNava, daharAkAsa in hridaya puNDarIka etc. that are NOT kArya-brahma whereas
sAlagrAma / linga in the form of pratIka / pratima are kArya-brahma.
BTW, both (AlaMbana & pratIka) can be adopted for the purpose of upAsana that leads to chitta shuddhi.
regs,
Sriram
