Rama, I must say, though I don't know the smR^iti-s well enough to know for
myself how orthodox your explanation is, this sounds to my Western ears one
of the more intelligent, compassionate, and well-balanced presentations of
the orthodox-sounding view on the caste system.  Thanks!
