I have come across people who believe in god and do pooja etc. but do not believe in traditional practices (for example formalities those need to be observed during eclipse like tarpana etc.) saying that eclipse is just a scientific thing no need to paste the divinity to it etc. likewise ladies menstrual periods and related restrictions, argument goes like it is quite natural to the women like puberty in boys why so many restrictions etc....And someone who pose themselves as rationalists argue just do social service, serve the poor, help the needy and there is no need for doing any pooja and rituals (any vaidika karma for that matter), is this approach and thoughts OK?? No need to observe one's svadharma when he is mentally having the genuine intention to just do good to others ??

Hari Hari Hari Bol!!!

Namaste
A view called panpsychism that counters some of the purely materialist reductionist arguments of many (but not all) scientists.

Such theories like panpsychism advance certain arguments and thought experiments which are useful to counter objections to traditional Advaita by pointing out fallacies and contradictions in the worldview of scientific materialism.

The usual varieties of logical positivism and realism prevalent in many scientific circles rejects any inner dimension or inside view of matter.
For them a human being is only a complex mechanistic device. Their view is broadly that, "well-confirmed scientific theories are approximately true; the entities they postulate do actually exist; and that we have good reason to believe their main tenets. Only that which can be measured has existence. Qualitative experiences or qualia are dismissed as having any reality"
