In the Valmiki Ramayana, Yuddha Kanda, is the famous Aditya Hridayam
stotram that Agastya Muni imparts to Sri Rama. One can read the same here
with English translation:

http://www.valmikiramayan.net/yuddha/sarga105/yuddha_105_frame.htm

Therein it is stated:

brahmeshaanaachyuteshaaya suuryaayaadityavarchase |
bhaasvate sarvabhakShaaya raudraaya vapuShe namaH || 6-105-19

"Hail to you, *the ruler of Brahma, Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu the
infallible*, the sun-god, the light indwelling the solar orb, the
resplendent one, the devourer of all, appearing in the form of Rudra."

That Surya is 'sarva devatA svarupa' is also stated there:

eSha brahmaa cha viShNushcha shivaH skandaH prajaapatiH |
mahendro dhanadaH kaalo yamaH somo hyapaaMpatiH || 6-105-8

"He is Brahma the creator, Vishnu the protector of the Universe, Lord Shiva
the god of destruction, Skanda (son of Lord Shiva), Prajapati (the ten
lords of creted beings), Indra the ruler of gods, Kubera the bestower of
riches, Kala the Time-spirit, Yama the god of retribution, Soma the
moon-god and Varuna the ruler of the waters."

Sri Appayya Dikshitar in his 'Sri Ramayana Tatparya sara sangraha stotram'
cites the first verse above and says that Surya's antaryami is Rudra based
on this line:

sarvabhakShaaya raudraaya vapuShe namaH || 6-105-19  //sarva bhakShaaya=
the devourer of all; raudraaya vapuShe= appearing in the form of Rudra.//

He cites some mantra passages of the Krishna Yajur Veda 'Sri Rudram' which
he says are 'Aditya Upasana mantras'.

The name 'hiranya retaah' as one in the 108 names of Shiva and also in the
Shiva Sahasranama, is present in the Aditya Hridayam too: SuvarNasadR^isho
bhaanur *hiraNyareta*a divaakaraH || 6-105-10
